FAVORITE HOKA: ODYSSEY

Any shoe named after one of the archetypal stories in history must be pretty cool. There’s probably a cool metaphor about the shoe mimicking some aspect of Homer’s adventure, but I can’t think of it. I just like the fact that it’s light and responsive!

SCOTT’S STORY
Born and raised in Colorado, Scott had a standout career at Wheat Ridge High School. He was the State Cross Country Champion in 2009 and went on to finish 17th at the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships later that season. He then chose to run collegiately at the University of Portland.

PRO STATS
Scott signed with HOKA NAZ Elite in July of 2015. That fall he finished a stellar third place at the USATF Club XC Championships which qualified him to represent the United States at the 2016 Great Edinburgh XC Challenge. In Edinburgh he finished third behind American Garrett Heath and double Olympic Gold Medalist Mo Farah of Great Britain. He opened his 2016 track season with a huge personal best of 28:00.43 at the Stanford Invitational, followed by a runner-up finish at the USATF Half Marathon Championships and a 6th place finish at the Bolder Boulder 10k. At the Olympic Trials he finished 4th place, arguably the best race of his career to that point. In the fall of of 2016 he finished 2nd at the NYRR Dash to the Finish 5k and 5th in a loaded field at the prestigious Manchester Road Race. His 2017 is off to a good start after an 8th place finish at the USATF Cross Country Championships earned him a spot on the U.S. Team at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

NCAA STATS
Scott had a stellar career at the University of Portland. His cross country prowess was particularly special. In 2012 he was 26th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In 2013 he as 13th. Then, in his senior season, he finished in 12th place and led the Pilots to their first ever podium finish as a team (3rd place). His track bests include a 28:43.70 at 10,000 meters. He also made his debut at the half marathon distance during his senior year, running 1:03:59 and earning a qualifier for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon.
