NICK’S STORY
Born and raised in Spokane, Wash., Nick was a standout at Shadle Park High School before attending college at the University of Portland. He now lives in Flagstaff, Arizona and is married to British distance runner Calli Thackery.

PRO STATS
Nick opened up his professional career on January 18, 2020 by finishing 5th at the USATF Cross Country Championships and qualifying for the Pan American Championships. At Pan Ams he was ninth, helping the U.S. team to victory. In August he set a PB at 5,000 meters, running 13:56.47 at the Sunset Tour meet. He took a crack at the One Hour Run on the track at the HOKA Distance Carnival, running 19,440 meters and coming through 10 miles in 48:56.83- a U.S. record on the track. He opened his 2021 campaign with a third place finish in the OTQ section of the 10,000 at the Texas Qualifier in a new PB of 28:42.30 and ended it with a third place finish at the California International Marathon (his debut at the distance) in 2:12:59.

After an injury kept him out of the spring and summer in 2022, he opened his fall with a 15th-place finish at the USATF 10 Mile Championships in a PB of 47:41. More injuries sidelined him for nearly a full year before he came back to finish fourth at the Boulevard 4-miler in his hometown of Spokane in September of 2023. In December, he finished 11th at the California International Marathon, knocking out his Olympic Trials Qualifier with a time of 2:16:02. At the Trials he posted a top-25 finish, finishing 24th in 2:15:56.

NCAA STATS
Nick was a two-time NCAA All American in cross country for the University of Portland, helping lead the Pilots to podium finishes at the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Championships. In his senior season, he was the West Coast Conference and NCAA West Regional individual champion.
